EAST DISTRICT AGE GROUPS – Round 1 (Distance Meet)
24TH & 25TH November, 2018
Well done to all the swimmers who qualified for this meet, it is a tough one. We managed 9 PB swims with the biggest improvement coming from Joshua Drainer who took 14secs off his 400IM. Well done Joshua. I always think that this is the toughest event but it is the swim where we had the most entries, so keep this up swimmers.
Swimmers were placed as follows:
Sixth – Felix Hale 400IM
Eighth – Ines Donald 400IM
Michael Skakle 400IM
And just outside the top eight were Daniel Ritchie 9TH 400F/C, Felix Hale 9TH 400F/C, Ines Donal 10TH 800F/C, Michael Skakle 10TH 400F/C, Cameron Alexander 10TH 400IM & Joshua Drainer 11TH 400IM.
Great swimming everyone.

SCOTTISH NATIONAL SHORT COURSE CHAMPIONSHIPS
7TH – 9TH December, 2018
We had three swimmers qualify for this event, Ines Donald, Felix Hale & Angus Skakle, but only Ines & Felix were able to swim as Angus was unwell. Ines did a short course PB on her 50BR with a super swim & Felix took another 4secs off his 400I
M to win his heat with a very strong swim.
During the meet they had what were called ‘hot heats’, one in each event, where the heat winner could win a prize which added a bit of fun. Felix swam his 400IM in a hot heat so won a prize.
Felix had two other events & swam just outside his times but to qualify for the short course is fantastic so well done to all.

WARRENDER GRADED MEET
15TH & 16TH December, 2018
We didn’t have large numbers of swimmers taking part in this meet & also had quite a few call offs for a variety of reasons. On the Saturday I only had four swimmers in the morning & three in the afternoon. Gillian had a few more on the Sunday. We managed 7PB’s on the Saturday and a further 13 on the Sunday.
Highlights from the Saturday included Ines Donald taking 5secs off her 200fly in a super swim, Finlay Penman taking 6secs off his 50fly which was brilliant & Sasha Hale returning from injury with a 2secs pb in the 200F/C.
Of the Sunday swims, the largest pb came from Ben Gray in the 200 br with a 20s pb. Emily MacDonald competed in 5 events producing a haul of 4 pbs over the course of the day. Times for all swimmers, if not pbs, were on the whole matching pbs and this event proved an excellent warm up meet for the East District sprints the following weekend.
Results:
Gold – Ines Donald 50F/C
Silver – Kate Gray 200IM
Bronze – Ines Donald 100F/C
Orla Kennedy 200B/C
Fourth – Ben Gray 200BR
Fifth – Orla Kennedy 100Fly
Sixth – Ines Donald 200Fly
Cameron Alexander 100Fly, 200BR
Seventh – Orla Kennedy 100F/C
Great swimming everyone.

EAST DISTRICT AGE GROUP SPRINTS
Saturday 22.12.18
Congratulations to all the swimmers who were selected for the EDAGS sprints. It was a very long day very close to Christmas when everyone really needed a break.
We had some amazing swims & a massive 34 PB’s which was fabulous. The swimmers raced very well & their turns & underwater work is showing a big improvement. Most swimmers who did not PB were very close to their times which was great. Ten Inverleith swimmers made finals with another four as reserves. Michael Skakle was a reserve for the 50BR final & at the last minute got a swim to come 4TH with a fantastic, determined swim. Felix Hale had a brilliant 50F/C final where he PB’d for a second time coming 2ND equal with Angus Allison in a very exciting race.
We also had a number of teams entered for the mixed freestyle & medley relays. There were some great splits in all the relays & everyone worked really well together. The 2001 – 2002 age-group team of Scarlett Donald, Charlotte Drainer, Leo Bryce & John Mander got silver in both freestyle & medley relays & the 2003 -2004 team were fifth in the medley & sixth in the freestyle. The swimmers in this team were Kate Gray, Orla Kennedy, Cameron Alexander & Felix Hale. Well done to all the teams.
